The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a non-profit educational foundation, motivated by its mission, focused on the student.
The four programmes of the IB for students aged 3 to 19 help develop the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world.
Founded in 1968 in Geneva, Switzerland, the IB currently work with 3,946 schools in 147 countries to develop and offer four challenging programmes to over 1,235,000 students aged 3 to 19 years.
The four programmes of the IB are the:
- IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) – Age 3 – 12
- IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) – Age 11 – 19
- IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) – Age 16 – 19
- IB Career-Related Certificate Programme (IBCC) – Age 16 – 19

Maktab Tentera Diraja Kuala Lumpur is authorized to be an IB World School on 3 July 2015 to offer the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP).
